Pattern Deviation

Recognize problems in real-time.

Pattern deviation is the recognition when an activity is out of bounds of expected behavior. It might be acceptable and early intervention could ascertain appropriate remedies.

Pattern deviation The middle curve represents the historical spending pattern of an activity.  The upper curve represents an activity that is high cost. The low curve represents an activity that is probably behind schedule.

The middle curve is part of a zone of confidence. As long as real-time expenses fall within the cost / time parameters of the zone, normal project management practices are applied. When the progress of an activity, as outlined in the upper or lower curve occurs, then notification is initiated.
